Greetings to Greater Pacific NW Mission Center Members and Friends,
We are entering a busy time of camping and retreats as we welcome the spring and summer months ahead. You should be receiving your camping brochures shortly, if you haven't already, and I encourage you to invite friends and neighbors to attend one of our camps this summer. With the world such a turbulent place, our camps and retreats can offer an alternative to all the negativity we see in the news these days. Not an escape, but rather a time to draw apart and remember the love of Christ in our lives and the gift of forgiveness that is offered freely to us, every day of our lives. The world is in need of our powerful testimonies of love, and camps are a great place to renew and discover those stories of our faith. The timeliness of our new section 162 in the Doctrine and Covenants cannot be overstated.
I find that now, more than ever, I feel the need to make those phone calls to family and friends that I've been meaning to and listen to their stories. May we be strengthened in our resolve to rebel against the dehumanization surrounding us and boldly proclaim joy, hope, love and peace in the name of Christ.
With Hope, Romans 8: 35-39!

Rick Hylton, a young man from the Rainier Valley Congregation, Seattle WA, has made it through brain surgery to remove a large cyst on his pituitary gland. The surgery went well and the cyst was benign so we are very thankful. He could continue to use our prayers as he goes through the healing process, and hopefully gains relief from the effects of the pressure that the cyst was placing on his optic nerves. Thank you for your continued prayers for his parents, Nancy and Dale, and two sisters, Stefanie and Anne.
My daughter, Holly, is in the middle of doing her service process for the Girl Scout Bronze Award (the highest honor a Junior scout can earn). Her team is building book shelves and filling them with used books. These shelves and books will be delivered to local homeless and domestic violence shelters. Since our local shelters are filled with men, women, and children, we are asking for donations of books (used or new), suitable for adults and children.
If anyone has any old books they wish to give to the cause, feel free to call me, or bring them to the church. You never know just whose life you may touch.
